Ne-Yo has officially been recognized as the father of Sade Bagnerise’s two youngest children, putting an end to a protracted and contentious court dispute.
According to TMZ, a DNA test confirmed the singer of “Miss Independent” is the father of Braiden and Brixton on Friday, September 29. The children’s last names must also be changed from Bagnerise, which is their mother’s last name, to Smith, which is Ne-Yo’s last name.
These children also receive all other benefits and rights accorded to the R&B singer’s other offspring, according to the decision.
Ne-Yo (actual name Shaffer Smith) initiated legal action against Sade Bagnerise in May. The filings state that Ne-Yo acknowledged being the biological father of the older child, Braiden Bagnerise, but expressed uncertainty regarding Brixton Bagnerise. He therefore asked for a DNA test to prove paternity.
In addition, he demanded joint custody, a “liberal parenting schedule,” and he wanted Braiden to adopt his last name. He claimed that all of these things are in the best interests of the kids.
Ne-Yo has had a romantic life that is anything but tidy. He divorced Crystal Renay back in February, and to get out of it all, he had to write a cheque for over $2 million.
In August 2022, only four months after they renewed their vows, Renay filed for divorce. During their eight-year marriage, she alleged that Ne-Yo had cheated on her “numerous times” and had covertly fathered a kid with Bagnerise.
She lashed out at 8 years of deceit in a bitter Instagram post last summer. “I have inadvertently been sharing my life and my husband’s with various women for eight years, every single one of whom sold their unprotected bodies to him! It would be an understatement to say that I’m disgusted and heartbroken. It is completely ridiculous to want me to stay and tolerate it. The narcissist’s way of thinking.
“I will no longer pretend that this is something it isn’t or lie to the public,” she continued. I make the decision to be happy, healthy, and respected.
Along with taking one of their four Georgia houses, Renay reportedly received a $20,000 moving expense reimbursement from Ne-Yo.
Additionally, Renay stated that she needs a new car, and Ne-Yo agreed to pay for it by writing her a cheque for $150,000 to buy any car she wants, despite the “So Sick” singer choosing to maintain their 2022 Bentley Bentayga.
