A: My sound is feminine, confident, and a little unpredictable. I can give you something pretty and melodic, then turn around and give you something with attitude. Q: What usually sparks your creativity when you’re in the studio?
A: Honestly, it can be anything. A mood, something somebody said to me, something I experienced, or just hearing a beat that instantly makes me feel like I have something to say. I’m very energy-driven in the studio. If the beat gives me a certain feeling, I’ll create a whole world around it.
Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?
A: I’ve always been inspired by artists who have that star quality where you know exactly who they are the second you see or hear them. I love confidence, femininity, individuality, and artists who know how to reinvent themselves. I take inspiration from different places, but I never want to sound like somebody else. I want people to eventually hear something and say, “That sounds like Mercii.”
Q: How do you usually start a new track?
A: The beat usually tells me everything. I don’t like forcing a concept before I hear the production. I’ll play the beat, catch a flow, start saying whatever naturally comes to me, and usually there’ll be one line where I’m like, “Yeah, that’s it.” Then I build from there. Some of my favorite ideas happen when I’m not overthinking them.

A: Whole new era of Mercii XO. More music, stronger visuals, and just a more elevated version of everything I’ve been building. I want people to experience the lifestyle and personality behind the music too. I’ve been very intentional about my next moves, so when everything starts dropping, people are going to understand the vision.
Q: Outside of music, what part of your everyday life or background secretly fuels your creativity the most?
A: Probably the different versions of myself I’ve had to become throughout my life. I’ve always been very observant, and I remember experiences, conversations, how people made me feel—all of that. Even the things I would never directly talk about end up inspiring something. I think that’s why I can make confident music and still have another side of me that’s deeper and more vulnerable. Both are really me.
