Monotronic, an indie band from Los Angeles, just put out a single called Everything Moves. The music video for it actually hit the top spot on VEVO when it came out. It’s a catchy tune that gives you a lot of energy.
I found the mix of distorted guitars and drums mixing with those synths is really well done, and the whole thing sounds great because of the excellent production. The song will be on their next album, Waiting for You, which is coming out in January 2026.
What’s cool about Monotronic is they don’t stick to one particular sound. They’re a group of musicians who are open to mixing things up. You can hear how they blend indie and electronic sounds, and they also bring in influences from music all over the world. It makes their music unique and hard to put into one category, which is what makes them interesting.
Monotronic is the brainchild of guitarist and producer Ramsey Elkholy. It’s a musical project that blends his passion for music with the cultural insights he gained from his travels.
Elkholy’s experiences traveling through Asia and Southeast Asia greatly shaped his musical vision. He spent two years backpacking around the world, even studying Indian music in Calcutta. Later, as a graduate student, he lived with the Orang Rimba tribe in the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia, for another two years.
Living among the Orang Rimba, Elkholy experienced a collective or tribal way of life. In this lifestyle, the group’s needs come before the individual’s, and everything is shared. This communal spirit is a core idea behind Monotronic. Elkholy wants every musician involved to contribute their unique creativity, making music that truly comes from a shared experience.
