He believes that the next generation of producers will focus even more on breaking down genre context walls. “The rave scene was formed and built on inclusion, not self-serving and self-focused isolated sub-genres that prejudge other sub-genres,” he says. Rave music started with an open mind, and AOK has made it a goal to help the scene return to that.
Anyone who came to enjoy any rave back in the beginning of the scene met other ravers with a basic mentality of Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. He notes that we’ve lost the Unity. The genre of electronic music didn’t matter, and most events would have multiple genres over the night, much like today’s festivals. As long as the music was loud, good, and electronic, people didn’t care, as they were there for the community, vibes, and to dance all night.
Multiple times in his life, music has been the guiding force, connection, and inner strength he has needed to get through the toughest of situations and overcome any obstacle.
He wanted to move to producing his own style and sound of music so that hopefully, one day, he can give back to the EDM scene, musically, what it gave to him. He hopes that one of his songs could be for someone else what some songs in the electronic music scene have been for him. To give another person a deep connection, energetic congruence, balance, or emotional support through one of his tracks would both be a dream come true and giving back to music what it provided him.
