DJ Matrix, the original 1988 electro pioneer, is back with a high-energy remake of his classic anthem, “Feel My Bass (Reloaded),” out March 22. Heavy distorted synth basses, detailed soundscapes and precise vocal samples make up the track, which kicks off a monthly single release schedule that will culminate in a new album.
The result is the track “Feel My Bass (Reloaded)”, which completely recharges the electronic scene with super infectious high-octane energy. DJ Matrix turns in a well-constructed mix of musical styles that perfectly maintains the classic Miami Bass energy of the track. The production is built on heavy, hard-hitting rhythmic foundations, powered by absolutely powerful synth basses that have a gritty, distorted edge. This bounce is framed by complex and textured cinematic soundscapes, creating lush, warm layers that are an ideal echo of the late-night high energy aesthetic of the original clubs. Pristine pluck melodies and perfectly placed vocal samples float effortlessly above the whole arrangement, keeping the listener locked into the groove.

This is the original DJ Matrix, 1988, not to be confused with the many “Me Too’s” with the same name. DJ Matrix is considered a true legend to many in the realms of classic Electro, Miami Bass and underground hip-hop. The Gulf War started and he was in the United States Marines and his music career was interrupted. His life story reads like a real life Forrest Gump story, filled with high stakes drama, big historical turns. Two years ago electro icon The Egyptian Lover lured DJ Matrix out of retirement, telling him fans everywhere were waiting for his return. Fans clamored for a remake of his timeless classic after their collab on last August’s massive comeback single, “Hypnotic” (which dropped in full on March 22).
